China National Petroleum Corp, China's largest oil and gas producer, has issued preliminary approval for French company Total's investment plan for the South Sulige gas field in Inner Mongolia. The plan is currently pending government review. If approved, Total will join hands with CNPC to develop the Sulige gas field, expected to produce 3 billion cubic meters of natural gas annually. The project is set to start in 2010.
