Timeline of China's Tainted Milk Scandal.
Sanlu's tainted milk scandal began to surface in March 2008 when Nanjing Children Hospital sent 10 samples of babies' kidney stones to the lab. The hospital had treated 20 babies with kidney illness as of June 2008.
After producing tainted milk, Sanlu's general manager was detained, and the company ultimately declared bankruptcy.
