»Bank of China said that its acquisition of Compagnie Financière Edmond de Rothschild was not approved by regulators before the deadline.

»BOC will thus give up its plan to acquire the French bank.

»In September 2008, BOC planed to acquire 20 percent stake in the French bank by spending 230 million euros.
