» China will start constructing five nuclear power plants this year.

» The five projects will be located in Sanmen in Zhejiang province, Haiyang and Rongcheng in Shandong province, Taishan in Guangdong province, and Changjiang in Hainan province.

» The Sanmen and Haiyang projects will use Generation III AP-1000 technologies developed by U.S. firm Westinghouse.

» Construction of the first unit of Sanmen project started on April 19.
