China's Q1 Energy Use Per Unit Of GDP Down 2.89%

» China’s energy consumption per unit of gross domestic product in the first quarter fell 2.9 percent from a year earlier, the National Bureau of Statistics said.

» China posted a 2.62 percent decline in energy consumption per unit of GDP in the first quarter of 2008.

» The government is targeting a 20 percent reduction in energy consumption over the five years from 2006 to 2010, or a 4 percent cut per year.

» In 2008, energy consumption per unit of GDP fell 4.59 percent, the statistics bureau said earlier.
