» Fan Xia, former deputy chairman of Shanghai Huayi Group Ltd., went on trial on May 25 for alleged corruption involving 17.3 million yuan, taking bribes of 8 million yuan and embezzling 57 million yuan.
» Fan, a famous entrepreneur in China's chemical industry, admitted to illegally investing 1.25 million yuan in a subsidiary company, but denied all other allegations.
» He was arrested in the airport in April 2008 before his family boarded an international flight. Currently, his wife and daughter are in Germany.
