Xiong Weiping, current president of Chinalco

Xiong stepped up to lead Chinalco in February 2009, when Xiao Yaqing stepped down. He simultaneously holds a position as Chairman and CEO of Chalco, one of Chinalco's subsidiaries. He has a doctorate in mineral engineering from the Central South University of Industry, where he is also a professor and at one time, executive vice president and dean of the School of Management. He is currently a PhD supervisor at Beijing University's Guanghua School of Management. Before Chinalco, Xiong served in various other leadership positions including deputy general manager of China Copper, Lead and Zinc Group Co.; vice chairman and president of China National Travel Service (HK) Co. (Group) and China Travel Service (Holdings) Hong Kong Ltd.; vice chairman and president of China Travel International Investment Hong Kong Ltd.
