Passenger Confirmed to Have Caused Chengdu Bus Blaze

» An investigation concerning a bus blaze in Chengdu that has killed 27 people and injured 74 others shows that someone had boarded the bus with gasoline, causing the fire.
» The investigators ruled out explosion as the cause because no fragments of explosives have been found and no signs indicated an explosion had happened.
» The accident occurred during morning rush hour at about 8 a.m., June 5. Passengers could not leave the burning bus because of a mechanic malfunction of the doors that normally opened inward.
