» A disclosure of information for the Chinese government's purchase of "Green Dam – Youth Escort"filtering software has been requested on June 12 in an application to the Ministry of Industry and Technology by Liu Xiaoyuan, a lawyer in Beijing.
» Liu wants the government to reveal information as to why it was necessary for the government to purchase the filter software; how the purchase and contracts were made; and how much the government spent and their source of funding for the software.
» Additionally, the software – which filters out mentions of homosexuality on the Internet - has provoked protest from gay rights activists, who deem such a screen a sign of discrimination against homosexuals.
