Guangdong Health Department Denies H1N1 Community Outbreak

» Yu Dewen, spokesperson of Guangdong Provincial Health Department, denied an A/H1N1 outbreak in some local communities in the province, contrary to what the deputy director of the Center for Disease Control and Prevention in Guangzhou had said previously.
» Yu argued that the A/H1N1 cases are not severe enough to be deemed a community outbreak according to the standards of the national plan for preventing and controlling of the A/H1N1 spread issued by the Health Ministry on June 17.
» Despite his denial, Yu anticipated a continuous increase in imported cases and local cases without an identified source, adding that the health authorities of Guangdong have shifted their attention to controlling transmission.
