Major Iron Ore Find in Liaoning

» An iron ore deposit discovered in Dataigou mine in northeast China's Liaoning Province is claimed to be the biggest in Asia, the China News Service reported.
» The Dataigou mine – which is located near facilities of the steel companies Anshan Iron & Steel and Bengang Steel – contains both magnetite and hematite with iron content ranging between 25 and 62 percent and with proven reserves of more than 3 billion tons, the agency said, without specifying when the deposit will be tapped.
» China is the world's largest importer of iron ore, shipping in 443.7 million tons last year.
