started to release real-time data on surface water quality via its Web site on
July 1, which will be updated every four hours and easily accessible to the
public.
» Many incidents of water pollution, such as the outbreak of toxic
cyanobacteria in Lake Tai and the contamination of the Songhua River by a
chemical plant explosion, have necessitated a release of real-time data.
