» Taiwan opened its door to Chinese mainland investment on June 30, nearly one year after the proposal was put on the table, with 100 categories of business in manufacturing, service and infrastructure industries on the investment list.
» Since investment from Taiwan was permitted on the mainland in 1991, as much as 77.1 billion US dollars of capital has flown across the Strait, an imbalance Taiwanese authorities have said they would like to correct in order to boost the island's economy.
» An economic official in Taiwan admitted the list does not include some categories in which mainland investors are interested because Taiwan authorities must put local businesses and markets first.
