China Launches Building Quality Inspection

» The Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development called for a comprehensive quality inspection of residential buildings under construction across the country, mainly focusing on a building's foundation and framework.
» The impetus for this nationwide building quality inspection came after a nearly finished 13-story apartment building fell over early on June 27 at Shanghai's "Lotus Riverside" apartment complex.
» The ministry is requiring inspection agents to submit their building evaluations no later than July 30; the validity of these evaluations will be further checked between July and September.
