China Encourages SMEs to Expand in Overseas Markets

» Small and medium-sized enterprises are being
encouraged to pursue foreign investment opportunities and set up trading
entities and research institutions overseas, Zhu Hongren, spokesman for the
National Development and Reform Commission, said on Sept. 3.
» The
government will also support the development of small private venture capital
firms via tax breaks and encourage VC firms to increase their investment in
SMEs, he said.
» An SME is defined as having fewer than 2,000 employees,
annual revenue of less than 300 million yuan, or assets under 400 million
yuan.
