» Wealthy nations are attempting to terminate the Kyoto Protocol before the second commitment period of greenhouse gas cuts get under way and to dilute or even abandon the principle of common but differentiated responsibilities, said Yu Qingtai, China's special envoy for climate change.
» Wealthy nations are historically responsible for most of mankind's greenhouse gas pollution in the atmosphere but now they are trying to shift their burden to developing countries, Yu said Oct. 6 on the sidelines of climate talks in the Thai capital.
» A new climate pact that will request developing nations to take absolute emission reduction targets was initiated earlier this year and enthusiastically pushed forward by the United States during the talks in Bangkok, resulting in position shift from the EU, Yu told Caijing.
