Researcher Advises Against Importing Electric Car Parts

» China should attempt to develop its electric car industry independently and avoid buying component parts from overseas, Chen Qingtai, a researcher with the State Council's development research center, said on Thursday.
» Chen said that China should abandon the practice of assembling circuits and other high-value parts produced in other countries before exporting finished goods.
» He noted that it was important to develop competition within the industry despite plans announced on Oct. 14 that China's 10 leading automakers will cooperate on electric car research and development.
