China's Baosteel Ranks Third in Terms of Crude Steel Output

China's Baosteel ranked the third in term of curde steel output;Hebei Iron & Steel Group jumped to the second place in 2009

Baosteel Group Corporation has announced recently that Baosteel ranked the third in the list of top 20 biggest steel producers in 2009, released by Steel Business Briefing (SBB); the crude steel output of Hebei Iron & Steel Group totaled 40 million tons, taking the second place among global steel producers, Xinhua reported on Mar.10.

According to the ranking, Arcelor Mittal remained the first place with a crude output of 73.2 million tons in 2009; Hebei Iron & Steel Group came out second with an output of 40.2 million tons and Baosteel ranked the third, amounting to 38.87 tons, increased by 9.9 percent year on year.

Three other Chinese steel producers were included in the top 10 list: Wuhan Iron & Steel Group ranking the fifth with 30.3 million tons, Anshan Iron & Steel Group ranking the sixth with 29.3 tons and followed by Sha Gang Group with 26.4 million tons.

The rest of top 10 steel producers were: Pohang, 4th,31.1 mmt; Nippon Steel, 8th, 24.3mmt; JFE, 9th, 23.5 mmt; Tata Group, 10th, 21.9 mmt.
