According to Xinhuanet, China Mobile has been in talks with Apple, hoping to see a version of iPhone compatible with TD-SCDMA, the 3G standard used by its network, Wang Jianzhou, CEO and chairman of China Mobile Limited, said at a news conference.
China Mobile has showed continued interest after sales of the handset started in China late last year through rival carrier China Union, whose 3G network is compatible with that of the standard iPhone. China Mobile is still in talks with Apple about offering the iPhone, Wang said. But up till now, they haven't reached any agreement.
China Mobile is interested in the iPad partly because the company has a large 3-book library available on its network, said Wang Jianzhou.
Wang refused to comment on China Union's negotiation on iPhone.
