NLGX branches out to Beijing International Airport
01-12 15:52 CaijingNLGX, the much-loved hipster store flanking Nanluoguxiang, has been selling its original-design fashion items to thick-rimmed glasses-wearing fashionistas since 2008. Now they will be opening two new stores in the Beijing Capital International Airport, as the brand breaks into a more international crowd and takes its place as one that can represent an aspect of China’s growing fashion culture. They’ll be selling their graphic t-shirts and recycled bags, as well as a new line of gifts and accessories inside international departures in Terminal three.
To coincide with the opening of these new branches, NLGX will be launching a range of t-shirts for kids aged three to ten. Funky t-shirts will feature their much-loved older designs as well as some new ones. Anything you buy will even come in original-design boxes.
Owners Michel and Ed first opened NLGX’s doors to Beijingers in 2008 and have witnessed the growth of their store ever since. ‘Our soon-to-be-open stores at the Beijing Capital Airport are a testament to the progress we've made …It's a big deal to be invited and accepted into the Airport retail sphere, especially as a 4-year old startup that sells only original-design items,’ says Ed. The unique vibe of Nanlouguxiang, with its old-time residents, local artists, musicians and backpackers was the inspiration behind the design brand. Ed and Michel say they strive to promote the preservation of Nanlouguxiang and the culture it represents, as well as support local artists and China’s original-design industry. Long story short? NLGX will bring a taste of old-time Beijing to our city’s gleaming, modern airport; just another contradiction in this city of contrasts.
The stores are set to open in the next few weeks, but details could yet be confirmed.
NLGX Airport stores Gates E11 and E29, Terminal three, International Departures, Beijing Capital International Airport. Open 6.30am-8.30pm daily. 北京首都国际机场T3号航站楼国际出发登机口E11和E29
